Online Safety

Safeguarding is of high importance in our school.

We recognise that we live in a world in which technology is rapidly changing and it is important that we are aware of the changes and look at the potential benefits for our schools, families and children.

The Curriculum

As part of the curriculum children learn about online safety.  In addition to this school also provides many channels through which children are reminded of how to keep safe online. This includes assemblies, special events such as Internet Safety Day and specialist organisations invited into school to share messages including our local police.

Our internet is filtered appropriately via our IT provider MINT, who use software to continually monitor and update blacklisted websites. MINT provide filtering software through the broadband provision. The school uses Senso as our monitoring software for staff and pupil use.

Our Computing subject leader is Miss G Birdsall who attends regular training on online safety through Mint our IT Provider.

Parents & Online Safety

It is clearly vital that parents are equally aware of some of the possible dangers so that they are better able to protect their children.

There are a number of ways in which you can help your children when they are using the Internet.

One is to consider supervised access to the internet rather than children being unsupervised in their bedrooms or on phones.  Another is to have child safety blocks in place on all devices which are being used to access the internet.

The websites below offer more detailed advice on e-safety for your children.
