After School Clubs
Clubs form an important aspect of the wider enrichment opportunities provided at Netherton J & I School.
We have clubs that run at lunchtimes and after school.
Teaching staff with expertise and interest in certain areas give time to organise a wide range of activities. Our clubs cover a wide range of subject areas including PE, Music, Drama, Art, and so on.
Children are provided with the opportunity to interact with children from other classes which is considered a valuable aspect of the development of positive relationships and attitudes. It is a vehicle for developing tolerance and co-operation and provides children with a different learning experience with their teachers and other approved adults. External companies are used to supplement what school staff have to offer.
Club are changed over the school year on a half termly basis to provide children access to a wide range of experiences. Parents are invited to sign their child up to a club by letter. We charge a fee for our clubs to cover the cost of running the club.
Our clubs were commented on in our OFSTED inspection in May 2022:
Opportunities for pupils to develop their talents and interests and to try new things are plentiful and varied. There are a range of clubs available for all ages of pupils after school. These include art , sewing, recorders and sports activities . The younger
children enjoy the funky fingers after school club.
The parents and pupils said how much they appreciate the lunchtime clubs led by Year 6 pupils. These include Dramalama (acting and role play), Little Tigers (craft club) and the early years sports club.
